Key Largo snorkelling
This underwater paradise is home to some of the most amazing sights...

Under the sea
Sandwiched between the watery wilderness of the Everglades to the west and the fish and coral formations of the coral barrier reef to the east are the waters of Key Largo.

Key Largo's long history of marine conservation dates back to 1960, when the first undersea preserve was created. Since then, the fragile underwater eco system has been protected from spear fishing and coral collection. The resulting underwater paradise is home to some of the friendliest fish around - and, consequently, it's great for underwater photography.
Wrecks
Fish aren't your only underwater companions. The waters around Key Largo are also famed for their wrecks. If you're snorkelling, look out for the famed bronze statue of Christ of the Abyss, with its arms reaching up towards the water's surface.
How to get started
There are many reputable dive and snorkel charters in Key Largo, so it's easy to start discovering the delights of its deep. And don't forget to take an underwater camera.
