Flights to Tokyo

Snow-capped Mount Fuji in Tokyo.

Flights to Tokyo Haneda commence 19 February 2011.

British Airways offers direct flights from London to both Tokyo Narita International Airport and Haneda International Airport. After your Tokyo flight, immerse yourself in buzzing Tokyo life by walking around Shinjuku and enjoy unrivalled Tokyo views from neck-straining skyscrapers. Head to Ryogoku Kokugikan to watch sumo wrestling or pray to Kannon - the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy at Asakusa Kannon (or Senso-ji) Temple.

Tokyo Narita International Airport

Narita airport is located 38 miles from central Tokyo. You can hop on the Narita Express, which takes you to central Tokyo Station in 60 minutes. Alternatively, the Airport Limousine Bus stops at Tokyo's hotels, taking 90 minutes to two hours to reach various locations around Tokyo. The Keisei Skyliner also travels to Ueno and Nippori in north-east Tokyo in 51 minutes.

A taxi might seem appealing after your flight, but Tokyo's cabs are costly, and the long trip into Tokyo from the airport is very expensive. Always check train and bus timetables before outbound flights from Tokyo as schedules can be irregular.

Tokyo Haneda International Airport

Our flights arrive and depart from the Tokyo International Air Terminal (TIAT), located just 9 miles from central Tokyo. Haneda is ideal for quick access to the city and offers excellent connections within Japan, particularly with oneworld® partner Japan Airlines.

Haneda is linked to Tokyo via the Keihin Kyuko Railway, the Tokyo Monorail, or a bus service, all of which have stations at the terminal. You can also travel by taxi but this can be very expensive.

Best of Tokyo

After your Tokyo flight gets in, you might be surprised by how green Tokyo is. Unwind after your flight in Tokyo's parks. Try Shinjuku Imperial Garden for rolling lawns, Japanese gardens and teahouses. Get into the swing of Tokyo's nightlife singing karaoke in Roppongi, Tokyo's party district. Before your flight leaves Tokyo, pick up souvenirs like mochi sweet rice cakes from the stalls of Nakamise in front of Asakusa's Senso-ji temple. Leave time to pick up pretty stationery from Ito-ya in Ginza and gadgets from Shibuya's Tokyu Hands before your flight departs from Tokyo.
