Regular British Airways flights to Oslo serve modern Oslo Airport, 30 miles north
of Oslo city centre at Gardermoen. After your Oslo flight arrives, take the fast train
service straight into the centre, and you'll quickly find yourself in your Oslo
hotel. You can easily walk to most of Oslo's main sights, from the lively
Aker Brygge waterfront to the graceful 19th-century Royal Palace and
its manicured gardens.
Travel to/from central Oslo
After your flight to Oslo arrives, the quickest way to reach central Oslo is aboard
the fast Oslo's Flight Train, Flytoget, which runs direct to Oslo Central
Station from beneath the airport in under 20 minutes. The Oslo Airport Express
(Flybussen) coach costs the same as the train, but takes twice as long. It
can be handy if you're staying in Oslo's Majorstuen
district, west of the centre. Oslo taxis, outside Flight Arrivals, are a
pricier alternative, but useful if you have lots of luggage.
Best of Oslo
Once you're off your flight and in Oslo, you can begin to explore the
compact city centre. Wander along Oslo's elegant Karl Johans Gate,
with its smart shops and restaurants, and peek into the grandiose Royal
Palace. Head across the Oslo Fjord to Bygdøy
Peninsula to see the beautiful 13th-century wooden stave church at the
Norwegian Folk Museum. Before your homeward flights from Oslo, check out
Oslo airport's huge duty-free shopping area, and pick up some smoked salmon
or chunky Norwegian knitwear to take on your flight back from Oslo.
