British Airways flights to Beijing land at Beijing Capital International Airport,
16 miles north-east of Beijing city centre. Before or after the flight, marvel at the
modern Norman Foster-designed terminal, the world's largest airport building.
Take a taxi past the Dashanzi art district and skirt lively Sanlitun on
the way to Beijing's city centre. Go for a stroll after your flight to Beijing
around pretty Ritan Park, then relax with a plate of Beijing duck and cold
Tsingtao beer in a courtyard restaurant.
Travel to/from central Beijing
Beijing flights land to the north-east of Beijing. After your flight to Beijing, be
sure to take a legitimate Beijing taxi and make sure the meter is on. Taxis
are cheap and you'll whiz past Beijing's art community and the
exquisite Lama Temple on the way to central Beijing. You may have plenty of
time to see the sights, as Beijing's traffic can be heavy, so leave an hour
to get to the airport for your flight back from Beijing. There are regular
buses to central Beijing – check at information booths after
your Beijing flight.
Best of Beijing
After your flight lands in Beijing, enjoy a heady mix of imperial splendour and
modern development. From the pagoda at the top of Jingshan Park, look south
over the grand rooftops of the Forbidden City and north to the ultra-modern
Beijing Olympic Park. After your flight to Beijing, relax with a cup of
jasmine tea or Chinese noodles overlooking Houhai Lake.
