e-ticket

The ticket you can't lose

An e-ticket is an electronic ticket, which we send to you by email, or by post in some instances, as confirmation of your booking.  You can access your booking details at any time on ba.com or at an airport check-in kiosk.  All you need is your booking reference, which is a series of six letters and numbers that uniquely identify your booking, and the passenger's last name.

e-ticket is now the airline industry standard with paper tickets being phased out completely in the near future by all airlines.

The benefits to you are:

  • All booking details are stored securely in the British Airways booking system so you cannot lose, forget or have your ticket stolen.
  • You receive your easy and simple to read e-ticket receipt by email straight away when you book on ba.com.
  • If you book on the phone, and don’t have an email address, we will send an e-ticket receipt to you by post.
  • You can manage your booking online at any time and email your itinerary to friends and family or print it.
  • Ticket changes* can be made online through Manage My Booking, or over the telephone up to 30 minutes* before minimum check-in times. Changes are subject to the normal fare restrictions.
  • Check-in is simple and quick. With e-ticket you can check in at ba.com, an airport check-in kiosk or, if you prefer, a check-in desk.

*There are some exceptions in certain countries ie. where payment must be made in person.
