We recognise that our supply chain activities have a global environmental and social impact. We also understand the importance of reducing these impacts through our sourcing decisions, and seek to mitigate risk and improve performance in this area.
How are we improving our sourcing and services?
We are reviewing our purchasing processes, to embed sustainable procurement throughout our supply chain.
Our business partners work with us to meet our sustainable product design requirements. This year, for example, we worked with business partners to conduct a carbon lifecycle study of the World Traveller equipment, and have produced a hierarchy table for the various materials for use in future decision making. At the macro scale this will impact product design of the new cabin seats, and at the micro scale this will impact the choice of napkins we purchase.
We hold supplier workshops in order to ensure our key suppliers understand and help us deliver our objectives. What's more we will be auditing all our key suppliers for ethical practices by 2012 to ensure our suppliers are meeting our demand for sustainable procurement.
