For the last 7 years, British Airways has been a key partner in the development of a major youth diversion and safer schools project in Alexandra Township, Johannesburg and more recently in township communities in Cape Town and Durban.

Over 215 youth coaches have now been trained gaining the FA Level 1 Coaching Skills qualification with the help of Charlton FC.
Over 50,000 children have participated in the initiative.
The programme has gained support and funding from the British High Commission.
Workshops
As part of the intiative, British Airways staff have run citizenship and health and wellbeing workshops which thousands of children have attended, whilst the Metropolitan Police have facilitated activities on personal safety.
