To achieve our vision and deliver against the goals for One Destination, we have developed a plan containing over 80 programme level activities and several hundred projects.
Our plan looks at:
By applying this approach we ensure we review all aspects of our operation, thereby weaving Corporate Responsibility into the whole fabric of British Airways.

By employing environmentally considerate business processes.
In the coming months, this will include implementing initiatives identified by the British Airways Carbon Efficiency Group plus reviewing our IT and building energy consumption.
By utilising environmentally considerate airframes, engines and fuels.
In 2008, we announced a research and development programme with Rolls Royce to identify alternative fuels for our aircraft. We’re working together with Boeing and Airbus on the timely delivery of the latest additions to our fleet.
We will share the results of this research so the industry, our customers and most importantly the environment can benefit.
Continuing the focus on the entry of aviation into the EU Emissions Trading Scheme by 2012 and ensuring the most efficient process to reduce our carbon dioxide emissions will join our partners and markets.
In 2009 we will achieve the milestone of welcoming the 50,000th young person at the British Airways Community Learning Centre.
We will continue to maximise the use of the centre by schools and community groups in the Heathrow area.
By reducing local noise and emissions.
We are working to ensure all our new aircraft meet noise level requirements.
By continuing to invest in and support more than 120 community and conservation projects globally.

By facilitating responsible choices for our customers.
Throughout 2009 we will be rolling out a recycling programme for customers onboard our aircraft and in our lounges.
We aim to achieve sustainability by design across the customer experience.
In 2008, we began a stream of work which ensures all new product design briefs have sustainability as a core feature, making all future products as sustainable as possible.
By ensuring our procurement process has environment and ethics at its heart.
To support our vision for responsible air travel through One Destination, we will be auditing our suppliers regularly to make sure their products meet our ethical requirements.

By enabling our colleagues to be responsible.
In 2008 we began rolling out a workplace recycling programme which is continuing today.
By giving our colleagues the right tools to do the job.
In 2008 we introduced an 'ideas' database for colleagues to give their views and ideas on what the company can do to meet its One Destination vision. We have also introduced a Corporate Responsibility Champions programme to invite our colleagues to get involved in the One Destination programme and promote the Corporate Responsibility agenda across the airline.
By investing in people.
This year, we will be upgrading our cycle to work programme, thereby assisting our colleagues to reduce their own environmental impact.
