Overview - governance

Willie Walsh, CEO, chairs the Corporate Responsibility Board (CRB), who set the One Destination agenda, our programme for responsible air travel.

Willie Walsh is supported on this by Baroness Kingsmill, non-executive director, and Jonathon Counsell, Head of Environment.

The CRB meets quarterly and includes members of the leadership team who hold accountability for delivering its agenda.

The CRB agenda is embedded into the culture of British Airways through senior Corporate Responsibility sponsors across the business. British Airways Standing Instructions (BASI) formalise the approach:

BASI 2 - The BA Way of Business (PDF, 36 KB)

BASI 5 - Environmental Policy (PDF, 20 KB)

BASI 6 - Staff Concerns Policy (PDF, 50 KB)

BASI 17 - Business Integrity - Bribery, Corruption and Extortion (PDF, 25 KB)

BASI 18 - Code of Business Conduct and Ethics (PDF, 40 KB)

Stakeholder Engagement

We have defined our responsible air travel strategy through One Destination by a process of stakeholder dialogue.

The first step of our stakeholder engagement was to map out our business objectives in terms of Corporate Responsibility with our Corporate Responsibility Board.

Following this process, we held focus groups with customers, colleagues, NGOs and Corporate Responsibility experts to listen to what was important to them.

We wanted to find out where we had synergy and also where the gaps were. We then used this insight to refine our direction.

Finally we fed back to these groups, this evolved strategy to revise and fine-tune our approach.

The result is One Destination.

We can never reach our destination if we don’t move. As such we are committed to regularly reviewing and refining our Corporate Responsibility strategy and direction with our stakeholders as part of its ongoing evolution and development.
