Investing in cleaner vehicles

British Airways ground vehicles and aircraft.

For our move to Heathrow Terminal 5 we invested £25m in more than 550 newer, more efficient airport vehicles for ground staff and operations.

This includes 150 new environmentally friendly electric baggage tugs, built at Linde Material Handling Ltd's Basingstoke factory. These tugs are used solely at our new home at Heathrow Terminal 5.

As well as ensuring that the vehicles had the necessary power to do their job, environmental considerations were a key factor in the purchase of our new ground equipment vehicles at Heathrow.

We are also members of the Heathrow Clean Vehicles Programme. The aim of the programme is to reduce overall emissions from our ground fleet. We have been awarded their Diamond rating, the highest award possible.
