Community - applying for support

Criteria for applicants

A school pupil in the Mukuru Slum area of Nairobi.

We currently support more than 130 Community and Conservation organisations with complimentary flights, excess baggage and complimentary cargo.

We aim to support programmes across the British Airways route network with a particular focus on the areas of:

  • education and youth development
  • sustainable tourism
  • environment
  • heritage
  • support of staff-led projects

Applying for support

A rescued elephant at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, Nairobi, supported by British Airways. British Airways donated a minibus to the Variety Club children's charity, UK.
  • Applications should be made in February to join the British Airways Communities and Conservation programme (BACC).
  • Projects are advised if they have been successful at the beginning of April.
  • We will only accept applications from registered charities.
  • If an application is successful the project receives an allocation of complimentary flights which are subject to availability. Please note: passengers on this type of ticket may be put on standby and may not always travel as booked if a fare-paying passenger needs their seat on the day of departure.
  • The allocation is for use during the financial year. Organisations must reapply each February.
  • We are unable to support every application we receive.

One-off requests for flight assistance

Due to the long-standing support offered to projects in the BACC scheme, we no longer accept ad hoc requests for complimentary travel for charitable purposes or otherwise.
