Reporting

Open and honest reporting
British Airways has produced annual environmental reports since 1990 and this year will see the publication of our sixth report covering Social and Environmental issues. British Airways' 2002 Social and Environmental Report was short-listed for an ACCA award. This and other previous reports can be downloaded from the list below.
British Airways participates in a number of recognised surveys of social and environmental reporting and management. We continue to be listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index and the FTSE for Good Index. In 2002, we participated in the first Business in the Community survey of corporate responsibility and we were ranked in the 'premier league' of companies (i.e. within the top 18) by the 2002 Business in the Environment survey. We continue to take part in this initiative.

Engagement with stakeholders
British Airways believes in active engagement with stakeholders. We have well developed forums for employee communication and consultation, including BATUC
(British Airways Trade Union Council) and the British Airways Forum. We have an active
programme of communication with investors, including regular Investor Days at which
the company's plans are fully discussed with analysts. We communicate our position on
environmental and social issues to our suppliers and, where appropriate, ask them to
adopt similar policies.
Within wider society, we maintain an active dialogue with national and local government,
regulators, local community representatives and non-governmental organisations. Over
the last year, we have been very keen to discuss with others our views on the
government's consultation on the Future of Aviation and runway options, which has
included a series of local stakeholder meetings with community groups around
Heathrow.
