This promotion is only available to members of the British Airways (‘BA’) Executive Club who are 18 years or over, resident in the Republic of South Africa and who hold a British Airways Credit Card, or a Standard Bank Private Banking Credit Card (a ‘Member’). The promoters reserve the right to verify the eligibility of Members. If you are not currently a member of the Executive Club, you can enrol online at ba.com.
Members must have accrued the required billed expenditure on their British Airways Credit Card, or their Standard Bank Private Banking Credit Card (the ‘Target’) within a 12 month period ending each year on the anniversary of their Promotion Commencement Date (defined in section 10). Please note, qualifying spend excludes Cash Withdrawals, interest, Balance Transfers and fees. The Target for the British Airways Credit Card and Standard Bank Private Banking Credit Card is R200,000.
Once Members have reached the Target applicable to their British Airways Credit Card, or their Standard Bank Private Banking Credit Card, they will receive a voucher (the ‘Voucher’) on their Executive Club Account.
The Voucher entitles the Member, when making a booking using his/her accumulated Avios points (a ‘Redemption Booking’), to book a return ticket (a ‘Reward Ticket’ – also known as a Companion Voucher) without incurring the flight price (for applicable charges see Section 5) for a companion on that same flight (the ‘Redemption Flight’). Reservations and bookings for both the Member and the companion must be made at the same time. The Reward Ticket must be used for the same destination and must be booked in the same class as the Redemption Flight. Companion must travel with the Member on both the outbound and inbound journeys.
Members and/or their Companion will be responsible for paying the taxes, fees and charges relating to the Redemption Flight and the Reward Ticket, including but not limited to departure taxes, passenger service charges and federal inspection fees. Members must pay for these charges using their British Airways Credit Card, or their Standard Bank Private Banking Credit Card. For bookings visit ba.com and log in using your membership details or call your dedicated Executive Club Contact Centre on 011 441 8500. A fee may be charged for bookings, changes and cancellations to Reward Ticket bookings full details of which can be found on ba.com. It is not possible to redeem any Voucher by contacting any travel agent, or at the airport.
Redemption Flights and Reward Tickets may only be used on British Airways (operated by Comair Limited) flights.
This promotion is only available for Redemption Bookings made using Avios and cannot be combined with any other mileage or frequent flyer programme, or with partial cash payments.
Reward Tickets are subject to availability and there is no guarantee of receiving a Reward Ticket to the Member’s choice of destination under this promotion.
The Voucher is only valid if it has been acquired in accordance with the rules of this promotion. Vouchers must be exchanged for a ticket and all outbound travel must be taken before the expiry date on the Voucher, which is 12 months from the date of its issue. For example, a ticket routing Cape Town to Johannesburg (return), the return sector Cape Town to Johannesburg must be taken before the expiry date on the Voucher. Vouchers are non-extendable.
For existing cardholders, this promotion commences from 13th July 2009. For cardholders taking out a card after 13th July 2009, this promotion commences on the date of issue of the Member’s first British Airways Credit Card or a Standard Bank Private Banking Credit Card (‘Promotion Commencement Date’) Members have a 12-month period ending each year on the anniversary of their Promotion Commencement Date in order to reach the Target applicable to their British Airways Credit Card, or their Standard Bank Private Banking Credit Card unless the British Airways Credit Card , or the Standard Bank Private Banking Credit Card agreement expires before that time, or if the promoters decide to end the promotion (in which case Members will be given one month’s notice). Members will not, in any circumstances, be able to carry over any expenditure in respect of the Target into any subsequent 12-month period ending on the anniversary of their Promotion Commencement Date. Only one Reward Ticket will be allowed in any Card Year. A ‘Card Year’ is a period of 12 consecutive months commencing on the Promotion Commencement Date or any anniversary of the Promotion Commencement Date. If Members reach the Target during a Card Year, no further expenditure during that Card Year will count towards the next Target so Members can only start collecting towards the next Target on the first day of the next Card Year. For example, if Members receive their British Airways Credit Card or their Standard Bank Private Banking Credit Card on 1 February 2009 and they reach the applicable Target on 1 July 2009, they will not be able to start collecting for a further Reward Ticket until 1 February 2010. Alternatively if they reach the applicable Target on 1 March 2009, they will not be able to start collecting for a further Reward Ticket until the beginning of the next Card Year, which is in the example given 1 February 2010. Any expenditure that they accumulate on their British Airways Credit Card or their Standard Bank Private Banking Credit Card between the date on which they reach the Target and the start of the next Card Year will not count towards reaching the next Target but will still earn Avios points, which can be redeemed in the usual ways.
Members must be a British Airways Credit Card or a Standard Bank Private Banking Credit Card Cardholder at the time of travel. British Airways Credit Card and Standard Bank Private Banking Credit Card reserve the right to refuse to issue or to honour any Voucher/Reward Tickets in the event that the Member is in breach of either the terms of their British Airways Credit Card or the Standard Bank Private Banking Credit Card or the British Airways frequent flyer programme Executive Club.
The Voucher may only be used by the Member who must select/advise at the time of booking the Redemption Ticket and the Reward Ticket that he/she wishes to use the Voucher.
Vouchers have a statutory cash redemption value of 0.001p and are non-transferable. Cash or credit alternatives will not be offered.
At no time may the Voucher be purchased, sold, transferred to anyone else or bartered. Any such Voucher will become void.
The Voucher may not be used in conjunction with any other offer.
Any flight tickets obtained in exchange for an invalid Voucher will also be invalid and liable for removal by British Airways. Alternatively British Airways reserves the right to recover the full applicable fare for the Reward Ticket from the Member or his/her companion.
Vouchers cannot be used to amend existing bookings.
Only one Voucher may be used at any one time for any one booking.
If booking by telephone, Reward tickets must be booked at least 48 hours before the date of travel.
Subject to the Executive Club terms and conditions relating to Redemption Bookings, if the Member cancels the Redemption Booking or if the companion can no longer fly on the Reward Ticket more than 24 hours prior to the scheduled departure of the first flight, British Airways may reissue the Voucher which will only be valid for the remainder of its 12 month expiry period.
