British Airways in the community

British Airways Community Relations department is responsible for the management of all community investment activity in the UK and further afield.

We work closely with our community partners at Heathrow, Gatwick and the UK regions to assess and offer support to local projects that fit within the framework of the five corporate priorities.

Outside of the UK we work closely with our country managers, local employees and relevant community and non-governmental organisations to manage community investment programmes that meet the differing needs of our many communities.

Our priorities for investing in the community are:

  • Education and Youth Development
  • Supporting our Employees
  • Sustainable Tourism
  • Environment
  • Heritage

Meninos do Morumbi youth empowerment project.

British Airways continues to be a member of both the London Benchmarking Group (LBG) and Business in the Community’s (BITC) Percent Club. The LBG’s benchmarking model is used to assess the Company’s total contribution to the community.

BITC reported our total contribution for the financial year 2006-2007 as £6.3 million.

In 2006 we were awarded The Travel & Leisure Global Vision Award "In recognition of an organisation that is defending the cultural, ecological and historic treasures of the traveller’s world".
