Chain of Hope

Child receiving medical attention.

Chain of Hope is a children's heart surgery charity established in the UK in 1995 to provide children suffering from life-threatening heart disease with the medical treatment to which they do not have access in their own country.

Chain of Hope provides this treatment in two ways. The first, by sending out medical teams to treat children in-country and by setting up training programmes for local surgeons and medical staff and the second, by bringing children to the UK for operations as an interim measure.

Chain of Hope is based on the principle of a 'chain of volunteers' linking together to enable children to receive the vital treatment that they need. The chain includes the referring doctor, the airline, the host family, the hospital and medical team.

Chain of Hope currently works in Cameroon, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iraq, Jamaica, Kenya, Lebanon, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Pakistan, Palestinian Territories, Senegal, Sudan, Togo, United Arab Emirates and Zimbabwe.
