Frequently asked questions

How much will it cost to change my cancelled flight?

There is no charge for changing bookings that contain a cancelled flight. Any further changes will be subject to the original booking conditions.

Can I change other flights in my booking, as well as the cancelled flight?

Yes, you can change all the flights in the same booking if you wish. Changes to any other booking (with a different booking reference) will be subject to the terms and conditions of that booking.

How many days do I have to change the booking?

You can change your booking on ba.com up to 48 hours after the original scheduled time of departure. To make changes after then, you must phone us, or visit a travel shop. All changes must be made within 14 days of the original scheduled departure time.

Can I cancel and refund my ticket if my flight is cancelled?

Yes. In some cases you will be able to do this on ba.com up to 24 hours prior to the original time of departure. After this point, refunds must be completed offline. Refunds must be completed as soon as possible. The original service fee is not refunded. Please contact BA for further details.

If I change my booking what happens to my seat requests?

Customers who are eligible for advanced seat booking should check in Manage My Booking once they have made their changes.

If I change my booking, what happens to my request for a special dietary meal?

If you had requested a special dietary meal for a flight that was changed, you will have to make a new request.

If I change my booking, what happens to the APIS information I have already provided?

Your APIS information, and that for any other passengers in the booking, will be retained. You will not have to enter it again.

If I made my original booking with a travel agent, can I use Manage My Booking to re-book or refund my ticket?

You may be able to re-book if your journey has already commenced or is about to commence within 48 hours. You will have to contact your travel agent for a refund, as you will not be able to use Manage My Booking for refunds.

Do all the people in my booking have to make the same changes to flights?

Changes made on ba.com will apply to all passengers in the booking. If you want to make different changes for some passengers, you must phone us, or go to your travel agent.

Can I upgrade my seat if my flight has been cancelled?

You cannot upgrade when changing your cancelled flight. Once you have made the change, upgrades will be subject to the original terms and conditions.

What happens to my non-flight products (hotels, cars, tours and transfers) when my booking is cancelled?

Non-flight bookings will not automatically be cancelled when a flight is cancelled. Changes to your flights also do not change any non-flight products, even if they were booked at the same time as the flights. You will need to contact your original booking agent to make any necessary changes.

My ticket is non-refundable/restricted or semi-flexible: can I change the booking?

If your flight was cancelled then you should be able to change your ticket using Manage My Booking without additional charges. Some travel agent tickets have special conditions and this means you will need to refer back to the travel agent who issued your ticket.

What are non-flight products and what happens to them if I change my booking?

These are hotels, car rental and insurance.
