Car rental in Newcastle

Silver car.

On the banks of the River Tyne in northeast England, the Newcastle area has some beautiful countryside that's ideal for car rental tours.

Once your car rental is arranged at the airport, take a trip out to Whitley Bay for some great scenery. At low tide, you can walk out to the 100-year-old St Mary's Lighthouse.

Just 33 miles north of Newcastle you'll also reach Alnwick Castle, a border fortress built in the 11th century. Car rental tourists may recognise this impressive building as the location of Hogwarts School from the Harry Potter films.

We also recommend using car rental to visit historic Durham, only a short journey south of Newcastle. The city's impressive 12th century cathedral and castle are both well worth the drive.

Situated just south of the River Tyne, you won't be able to miss Antony Gormley's now iconic sculpture, the 'Angel of the North'. Built on the site of an old coal mine, the sculpture is 20 metres high with a 54-metre wingspan. Car rental drivers will easily see it from the A1 road in and out of Newcastle.

Car rental visitors will be spoilt for choice when it comes to exploring the Newcastle countryside. With Northumberland National Park and North Yorkshire Moors National Park on your doorstep, there is much to see. Car rental will also give you access to the windswept Cheviot Hills, the scenic Pennine and Cleveland Ways, plus Kielder Water - the largest man-made lake in Europe.

Our car rental is Super Inclusive* and your rental price includes any applicable premium location fee, unlimited mileage, collision damage waiver (excess applies), theft protection (excess applies), third party liability insurance, local tax and roadside assistance.

(* for North American residents we only offer Exclusive and Inclusive car rental plans in Europe, details of which can be viewed in relevant search results).
