Situated just south of the River Tyne, you won't be able to miss Antony Gormley's now iconic sculpture, the 'Angel of the North'. Built on the site of an old coal mine, the sculpture is 20 metres high with a 54-metre wingspan. Car rental drivers will easily see it from the A1 road in and out of Newcastle.

With Northumberland National Park and North Yorkshire Moors National Park on your doorstep, there is much to see.
