Car rental in Manchester

Silver car.

Manchester is a vibrant city surrounded by beautiful countryside. Driving here is simple for a city centre - making car rental a good option. And if you have your own transport, picturesque villages, sandy beaches and beautiful English countryside will be at your fingertips.

Use your car rental for a shopping trip to The Trafford Centre. One of the largest shopping centres in Europe, you'll find shops such as Selfridges and John Lewis, plenty of restaurants and a multi-screen cinema.

We love to use car rental to visit some of Britain's great National Parks. The Lake District was an inspiration for the poetry of William Wordsworth. Explore the mountains, rivers and lakes on foot and discover some of England's most beautiful countryside. Alternatively, visit the Peak District - the second most visited national park in the world. Mountain biking, horse riding and rock climbing are very popular here. Car rental will get you here from Manchester in a couple of hours.

North of Manchester, car rental travellers can also explore a scenic rural region of some 500 square miles. Centred around the old industrial towns of Bury, Oldham, Bolton, Wigan and Rochdale, the region is filled with picturesque little villages. It also offers some stunning natural landscapes for car rental visitors to drive through.

Car rental will also help you reach Hollingworth Lake. Once a holiday destination for the area's mill workers, it is now a popular country park, and gateway to the impressive South Pennines.

The cities near to Manchester are also well worth a car rental journey. Vibrant Liverpool was Capital of Culture in 2008, while the cities of Chester and York are renowned for their pretty cathedrals. Alternatively, cross the Pennines and visit Leeds - another major British city.

Manchester and the surrounding northeast of England were at the heart of the Industrial Revolution, and you can use car rental to visit some of this period's key attractions. We advise a car rental trip to the East Lancashire Railway at Bury, or to the working 18th century cotton mill at Quarry Bank Mill.

We work in partnership with Avis to provide your car hire. All Avis car rental includes mandatory third party liability insurance*, unlimited mileage, collision damage waiver (excess applies), theft protection (excess applies), taxes and airport surcharges*. If you want to reduce excess payments, you can pay for Super Collision Damage Waiver when you collect your car.

(* for North American residents we offer Exclusive car rental plans, details of which can be viewed in relevant search results).
