The city of Denver is the most populated in the State of Colorado. The surrounding county offers excellent opportunities for car rental tourists.
We recommend starting your car rental tour with a trip to the heritage town of Golden. Just 14 miles west of Denver, the town perfectly highlights the area's Wild West mining origins. Its pretty Victorian buildings have been restored and are now used as colourful shops, restaurants, bars and galleries. Car rental visitors will be particularly impressed with the town's Heritage Square, an 1870's reconstruction of mining town life.
A short car rental drive out of Golden, along the Lariat Trail up into Lookout Mountain, car rental day trippers will find Buffalo Bill's Museum and Grave. The nearby Colorado Railroad Museum is also well worth the visit. It features many examples of old locomotives, and has a massive model railroad layout.
Only 42 car rental miles west of Denver is Georgetown. Lying in a stunning mountain valley, this historic mining town has been restored to its original condition, just as it would have been at the turn of the 20th century. Car rental visitors can enjoy horse drawn carriage tours and the Georgetown Loop Railroad ride. Other attractions include the Lebanon Silver Mine and the 100-foot high Devil's Gate Bridge.
Using car rental you can also drive north into the alpine landscape of Arapaho National Forest and Winter Park. From here you can then use car rental to reach picturesque Grand Lake, and then follow the famous Trail Ridge Road through the panoramic views of Rocky Mountain National Park.
