Car rental in Boston

The area surrounding Boston is overflowing with places to visit on a car rental trip. The city is New England's cultural and financial heart, and surrounded by beautiful towns and countryside.

We love to head out to Rockport with our car rental. Less than an hour from Boston, this town is a popular day-trip location and sits on a dramatic coastline. Rockport is home to many artists and teems with galleries and art stores. Bearskin Neck is a good area to go. Make sure you stay and eat some delicious, fresh, seafood before you head back to Boston.

Situated west of Boston, we recommend a car rental visit to the town of Lexington. Home to the first farmer soldiers, or 'Minutemen', to die in the Revolutionary War, this historic suburb is a fascinating starting point for any car rental tour.

The pretty town of Concord is also well worth a visit. The town where the American Revolution began is a short car rental journey from the city centre, and is great for walking, shopping and biking once there. You can also go swimming at the popular Walden Pond.

Renowned for the infamous Witch Trials, Salem is just a 30 minute car rental journey from Boston. Full of historic 17th century houses and grand 19th century mansions, the town is also known for its rich maritime history - sometimes overlooked due to the area's associations with witchcraft.

No car rental tour of the Boston region would be complete without a trip to Plymouth, the landing place of the Pilgrims on the Mayflower. Besides the famous Rock itself, there is also a full size replica of the Mayflower to explore, plus the Plymouth Plantation, a recreation of a 17th century pilgrim village.

The pretty seaside town of Woods Hole is one of our favourite places in New England. Once a thriving fishing town, it is now known for picturesque beaches, fishing and independent shops. Woods Hole is around 90 minutes away from Boston with car rental.
