Bologna holidays are an ideal way to discover the best parts of northern Italy. Cultured and ancient, Bologna’s old city’s portico arcades make it one of Europe’s most walkable old towns.
Strikingly beautiful monuments, such as the Renaissance Fountain of Neptune and the alarmingly angled Due Torri, punctuate Bologna. With superb restaurants and cafés serving regional Emilian cuisine around central Piazza Maggiore, Bologna also stays up late in the bars of the University Quarter in and around Via Zamboni. Bologna is also perfectly located for further exploration of northern Italy. The former ducal capital of Parma, the UNESCO-listed city of Ferrara and the Romanesque cathedral of Modena are all within an hour of the city. The beaches of the Adriatic Coast are equally close while the forested slopes of the Apennine Mountains rise directly south of the city.
