A digital photograph of all customers on UK domestic flights from London Heathrow Terminal 5 will be taken at airport security. When boarding the flight, the photograph will be checked. Once checks are complete, all photographs will be deleted.
This process, designed by the British Airports Authority and the Border and Immigration Agency, ensures only eligible customers board domestic flights. It is necessary because there is a common departure area for domestic and international flights.
It has been agreed that, pending the outcome of a review, domestic customers flying from Terminal 5 will not have to provide their fingerprints.
