Head to Nice on holiday and you'll be stunned by the gorgeous setting of Nice's beach, as it edges beautiful blue Bay des Anges. The Promenade des Anglais and Quai des Etats-Unis run alongside for walks with fabulous sea views. Nice's beach is stony, so for a holiday of sandcastles or water sports, head west. For scenery and glamour, go east.
You wouldn't expect deserted beaches on French Riviera holidays, yet by walking on coastal paths near Nice you'll find wild, quiet corners. Follow the rocky shoreline, fragrant with pine, around Cap Ferrat or Cap Martin to the east, or Cap d'Antibes to the west, and you'll have narrow coves all to yourself.
On Nice beach holidays, you're close to great water-sports beaches. There's diving at Nice and to the west in Antibes (12 miles away) and Cannes (20 miles away). If you want more holiday thrills, you can't do better than Antibes' lively neighbour Juan-les-Pins (13 miles from Nice) for everything from scuba to waterskiing, jet-skiing or ski-surfing.
You'll find great kids' attractions along Nice's stony beach, but if you have sandcastles in mind for your family beach holiday, head further west along the coast. Take them to safe and sandy holiday beaches, with bars and family attractions, like Antibes, Juan-les-Pins and Cap d'Antibes, about 12 miles west.
Dance till dawn at clubs and late-night music bars on Nice's beachside Promenade des Anglais, Quai des Etats Unis or in nearby Old Nice. Party hard at lively beaches, popular with the younger crowd, up and down the coast from Nice. Juan-les-Pins beach (13 miles west), especially, is packed with beachside music venues.
