The Picasso Foundation in Málaga is based in the building where the world-famous artist was born and spent the first years of his life. The displays feature a range of Picasso's works and personal possessions, from ceramics to illustrated books.
The Picasso Foundation museum was set up in 1988 by Málaga City council. Its highlights include natural porcelain pieces made by the artist himself, such as Centaur, Fish and Bull's Head. Also, in the Graphic Work room, visitors can see the tormented Dreams and Lies of Franco etching. This satirical aquatint was designed by Picasso for the International Paris Exhibition to raise funds for the Republican cause during the Spanish Civil War.
The illustrated books section displays items that the artist's daughter-in-law, Christine Picasso, donated to the Picasso Foundation in 1992. Browse one-of-a-kind editions of Dos Contes by Ramón Reventos, Vingt Poèmes by Góngora and Cármen by Prosper Mérimé, all illustrated by Picasso.
