Founded in the 18th century, the beautiful Pamplemousses Botanical Garden houses an incredible variety of tropical plants, many of them indigenous. Wander through groves of palm trees and spice gardens, or admire the pond of giant Victoria Amazonica water lilies.
The gardens are also known as the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam gardens, named after the beloved first Prime Minister and later Governor General of Mauritius, or simply the Royal Botanic Gardens.
