The tradition of the pre-Christmas market dates to 16th-century Germany, when craftspeople set up stalls in the heart of cities offering food and entertainment. Denver's Christkindl Market is a modern equivalent held annually at Skyline Park.
Denver's Christkindl Market welcomes various artisans from Germany to sell Christmas items including hand-carved nutcrackers, glass-blown ornaments and traditional toys. Food tents serve roasted nuts, smoked sausage, Bavarian mustards, German beer and homemade gluhwein (spiced wine).
Denver's charming Christkindl Market also sees several local schools and churches provide live entertainment, and Santa makes appearances when his busy schedule permits.
