The legendary resort of Tignes remains one of France's finest. It also offers one of the longest seasons in the French Alps, extending from November to May, with skiing in the summer on the Grande Motte glacier.
With seven mountain lakes, a protected walking area, special four-wheel drive and mountain biking areas, the village is also fun in summer.
Apres-ski activities might including diving under ice on the lakes, a massage at one of the four spas or taking the chairlift up to the newly opened panoramic restaurant for a traditional dinner.
As soon as the official winter season ends, summer sets in, lasting until the end of October. Skiing is still possible on the Grande Motte Glacier (from 19 June), but by then the best fun to be had is on the lakes - come for sun-bathing, pedalos, canoeing or kayaking.
Tignes' golf course is the highest in Europe, open to anyone, with amazing panoramic views and there is also a summertime Adventure Trail, at an altitude of 1550 metres. For little ones over four, the tranquil little forest of the Bois de l'Ours turns into a make-believe jungle, with around 50 workshops for kids and adults alike, plus an overhead rope bridge.
Event details can change. Please check with the organisers that the event is happening before making travel arrangements.
