First held in 1997, Sculpture by the Sea sees the coastal path from Bondi Beach to Tamarama decorated with outdoor sculptures. Over 500,000 visitors come to view more than 100 works by both Australian and international artists.
The brainchild of David Handley, the first al fresco exhibition was so successful (with 25,000 visitors) that, in cahoots with Sydney's Olympic organising committee, 1998 saw sculptures in place at five sites across the country - Darwin, Noosa, Albany, Bondi and the Tasman Peninsula. The festival website has an impressive gallery of previous sculptures.
Please note that during the exhibition the event organisers are located in a temporary office at the back of Marks Park on the corner of Kenneth Street and Marks Lane.
Event details can change. Please check with the organisers that the event is happening before making travel arrangements.
