Nice - Event

The Cimiez Arenas and Gardens host the annual Nice Jazz Festival. With the amphitheatre undergoing renovation, performances this year alternate between two stages, which each host five artists nightly and the audience is free to wander between them.

A fixture since the 1940s, the event is renowned for its breathtaking location and unique atmosphere.

The programme is consistently broad and impressive. Highlights in 2009 include heavyweight tenor saxophone luminary Sonny Rollins, legendary blues guitarist BB King, the exceptional duo of Chick Corea & Gary Burton and the McCoy Tyner Quartet with Bill Frisell.

Further musical attractions include the Brad Mehldau Trio, the Joshua Redman Trio, Tracy Chapman, Susan Tedeschi, Madeleine Peyroux, Erykah Badu, Youssou N'Dour and the Charles Lloyd New Quartet.
