On top of beer halls and Christmas markets, a prime reason to spend New Year in Munich is the Tollwood New Year's Eve Party on the Theresienwiese. The event is organised by the Tollwood performing arts festival.
The Tollwood festivals have received high praise from both the press and visitors for their innovation and creativity. The organisers line up a whole host of DJs and live bands to accompany the traditional waltzing at midnight.
