The Russian National Orchestra opens its season of performances in Moscow with the RNO Festival, held at the city's Bolshoi Theatre. The festival presents a good opportunity for audiences to see the orchestra play in its home city.
The 2009 programme features a series of pieces by Petr Tchaikovsky, conducted by Mikhail Pletnev. From the grandiose setting of the Bolshoi Theatre's New Stage, the week-long festival also includes performances of Mozart's The Magic Flute and Grieg's Peer Gynt.
