Fremont Street, Las Vegas' indoor party street puts on a good shindig and its annual Mardi Gras is a hot local favourite. Processions made up of music, dance and plenty of fancy dress make this spectacular.
The Fremont Street Experience ranges across five city blocks. The "street" is a one-stop entertainment mall housing light shows, shopping, eating, gambling and live entertainment. The epitome of Las Vegas, it is great fun, fantastically glitzy and very, very tacky.
Mardi Gras started out as a religious festival. It marks Shrove, the last meat-eating day for Roman Catholics before Lent begins on Ash Wednesday.
