Ice Magic Festival is an international ice sculpture competition and exhibition held throughout Lake Louise, in the heart of Banff National Park. With Mount Victoria as backdrop, teams carve at the Fairmont Chateau, creating a crystalline walkway of world-class sculptures.
Teams of three carve 15 blocks, weighing 300 pounds each, into breathtaking sculptures, each a minimum of seven feet high. The resulting exhibition allows visitors to marvel at this highly skilled and unusual competitive art form.
Over at the Samson's Mall, children and parents can join in at the Little Chippers Station to create their favourite characters out of ice.
Finished sculptures are judged by International Ice Carving Association officials, while the public can also vote for their favourite sculptures. Visitors can view the remaining sculptures until March (weather permitting).
Event details can change. Please check with the organisers that the event is happening before making travel arrangements.
