Innsbruck - Event

The world's best snowboarders converge on Innsbruck's outdoor Bergisel ski-jump for a day of intense competition at the Air & Style show. The event is notorious amongst snowboarders for its monstrous quarterpipe.

In 2009 the event intensifies the competition further by re-introducing a straight jump - previously a common feature of snowboarding competitions in the 1990s, participants who take on the jump will have to complete a complicated series of twists, turns and stunts as they soar through the air, all with Innsbruck's stunning mountain setting providing a breathtaking backdrop.

Although the world's most-established snowboarders are to be the main focus of the festival, the Rookie Challenge allows emerging talents to impress the crowds, and musical relief between competitions is provided by Swedish band The Hives.
