Perched high above Innsbruck, the sublime 16th-century Ambras Castle was once the playground of Archduke Ferdinand II of Austria. The Schloss now shelters a clutch of royal treasures in its opulent halls and galleries.
Step inside to marvel at the Wunderkammer's coral and ivory artefacts, masterpieces by Velázquez and Van Dyck in the Habsburg Portrait Gallery and the Renaissance Spanish Hall's intricate wood-carved ceiling.
