The Houston Children's Festival takes over downtown Houston one weekend each April. Ten themed family adventure zones and six outdoor stages host shows and live music especially for families and children.
The Circustown stage, near City Hall's reflection pool, is a major attraction with high-wire acts and acrobats.
The Great American Barnyard has a petting zoo, pony rides and dog races, while the Earthzone promotes recycling and ecofriendly crafts. Activities from tilepainting to costume-making and helping with giant communal murals get kids involved. Children can also dance at the Healthy Kids Zone or take their CDs to the Team Kid Town stage, where the latest teen pop and musical show stars perform and then sign autographs.
The event raises substantial funds each year for Child Advocates, an organisation that helps abused children.
Event details can change. Please check with the organisers that the event is happening before making travel arrangements.
