The traditional Cotton Bowl Classic New Year's Parade winds its way along Ross Avenue through downtown Dallas to the West End historic district. Along with the usual floats, the family-oriented parade is kept in time by plenty of marching bands.
The parade provides a festive lead-in for the Cotton Bowl game. The New Year bowl games all sprang up as civic boosters in warm-weather locales, taking advantage of the national infatuation with college football to stage contests featuring top teams during the break in the academic year.
