SOFA (Sculpture, Objects and Functional Art) is America's leading art fair for the gallery market, firmly established as a driving force in the contemporary fine and decorative art market in America. It's held annually at Chicago's Navy Pier Festival Hall.
In the 1970s and 1980s Mark Lyman, founder of SOFA, became increasingly preoccupied by the fact that the boundaries of art are ever more blurred, the differences between art, object and image the subject of increasing debate.
Lyman founded SOFA to provide a bridge between art and decorative arts, form and function, sculpture and furniture. More than 50 exhibitors from around the world show everything from furniture to ceramics, glass works, innovative lighting designs and tribal art. As well as the gallery stands, special activities are laid on throughout the event.
New York has a sister show in June.
Event details can change. Please check with the organisers that the event is happening before making travel arrangements.
