The State of Origin tournament sees the best Rugby League talent from New South Wales (the Blues) and Queensland (the Maroons) face each other in three games across Australia. The third and final match is at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium.
Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane take it in turns to each host a game. In 2009, the opening game takes place in Melbourne's Etihad Stadium (formerly Telstra Dome) and the second is at Sydney's ANZ Stadium.
Queensland have defeated New South Wales for the past three years. However, the overall team standing is incredibly close, with Queensland just leading New South Wales by 15 series wins to 12 and two draws.
