This week-long winter carnival at Breckenridge pays tribute to Ullr (pronounced "Ooll-er"), the Norse god of snow. Wacky games, skating, snow sculptures, parades and kids' events make for a spirited time.
The locals believe that if they party hard enough then Ullr will bring them a prosperous winter season, and if you want to catch them in truly high spirits then this is one of the weeks to visit. The event takes place just after the International Snow Sculpting Competition, so the town is decorated with elaborate sculptures and there's a party atmosphere in the air.
The parade is a classic small town affair with local skiers, shops and restaurants entering floats, culminating in the crowning of the Breckenridge King and Queen.
Event details can change. Please check with the organisers that the event is happening before making travel arrangements.
