Exit, one of Europe's largest music festivals, takes place in the Petrovaradin Fortress in Serbia's second city, Novi Sad. The event celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2009 with main stage highlights The Prodigy, Korn, Kraftwerk and Arctic Monkeys.
Further highlights of the extensive programme included Lily Allen, Madness, Patti Smith, Moby, Manic Street Preachers as well as early hours dub step and drum & bass from Andy C & MC GQ, Bryan Gee & Kenny Ken & MC Skibadee, Caspa & Rusko & MC Rod Azlan, Chase & Status, DJ Marky & Dynamite MC, DJ Sub Focus & MC Jakes and Fabio & Grooverider & MC Rag.
The festival takes place within the walls of Novi Sad's Napoleonic fortress, built high on the banks of the River Danube, and has attracted widespread critical acclaim not only for consistently top quality line-ups, but also for the organisation and remarkable value it offers compared to other European festivals.
The Fortress site houses six main performance arenas including the mt:s Dance Arena and the Explosive and Fusion Stages. There's also an extreme sports arena, a technology zone and an open-air cinema, while accommodation includes camping and hotels.
