Legendary enigmatic Canadian poet and songwriter Leonard Cohen performs at the Tennesse Performing Arts Center in Nashville, Tennessee. The date comes on the back of the singer's 2008 world tour, his first for 15 years.

Leonard Cohen. Courtesy of AEG LiveLeonard Cohen had already enjoyed critical and commercial success as a poet and writer before he embarked on his musical career with the release of his 1967 debut album, Songs of Leonard Cohen.

With the release of the subsequent Songs From a Room (1969) and Songs of Love and Hate (1971), he established himself as an influential songwriter and major talent. Minimal, downbeat folk songs like Suzanne and Bird on a Wire examined important human issues.

Cohen's careers in music and literature have continued in tandem over the years, his songs imbued with a literary quality rare in the world of pop music and his poetry informed by a rich musicality. The timeless quality of his stripped-down material has enabled him to appeal to generations of new fans and he continues to produce compelling work.
