Gothenburg celebrates Christmas in traditional style at Scandinavia's biggest amusement park - the Liseberg. Shrieks of delight should replace shrieks from adrenalin highs, as Santa promises to be there too.

From April to October, the Liseberg Amusement Park devotes itself to scaring the wits out of children with its white-knuckle rides. At Christmas, however, families visit the park to enjoy its enormous festive market.

Creating seasonal cheer, choirs and bands fill the air with Christmas carols, while market stalls offer traditional goods. For the brave and the cold, there's even an ice rink to get the heart racing.

Lucia Day (12 December)is a highlight as a Gothenburg beauty is crowned the park's queen, but the park's transformation into a winter wonderland means a visit on any other day is just as special.
