St Lucia's rural Feast of La Marguerite on 17 October every year honours the humble daisy. La Marguerite flower society members dressed as kings, queens, nurses and other distinct characters, dance in the streets to folk music and drumming.

La Marguerite flower society rivals La Rose flower society that celebrates the Feast of St Rose De Lima on 30 August every year. Around a month before each festival, the two flower societies hold what are known locally as seances. Dances are performed and songs are sung in French Creole that lightheartedly criticise the rival flower society and trumpet their own.

After a religious service, costumed revellers parade the streets as kings, queens, soldiers, nurses, policemen and other amusing characters.
