The tiny island of Nevis struts its stuff out of the shadow of its neighbour, St Kitts, at Culturama, a carnival-cum-Emancipation Day celebration. Explore Nevisian culture, party at the Emancipation Day Jump-Up and admire the annually chosen Mr Kool.
The main events are the Cultural Street Fair, the Miss Culture Queen Pageant and the Grand Cultural Parade and Display. There is also a food and drink fair and nightly performances running up to Culturama Tuesday.
Culturama was conceived as a way for the largely African inhabitants of Nevis to revive and rejuvenate their traditional culture and identity. Emancipation Day celebrates the freedom of slaves, providing a fitting focus for the festivities.
Event details can change. Please check with the organisers that the event is happening before making travel arrangements.
