The public joins international conservationists in the fields of science, business, politics, the arts and from indigenous communities at the World Wilderness Conservation Congress, in Mérida's Siglo XXI Convention Center. Pressing environmental issues are debated and plans are formed.

Human communities in transition and the prevention of deforestation are just a couple of the topics on the agenda. British primatologist Jane Goodall, the Indian economist Pavan Sukhdev and the marine biologist Enric Sala Catalan from the National Geographic Society are some of the key guests this year.
