The Hamamatsu Flower Park in Japan makes way for the International Mosaïculture exhibition, a spectacular garden display that puts regular topiary to shame. Green-fingered artists sculpt giant statues of people, animals and buildings by positioning living plants around steel frames.
The horticultural art is based around the theme of "A symphony of people and nature". The artists, who hail from around 30 countries, use flowers and leaves of different colours and textures to create an incredibly detailed effect. Over a million visitors are expected to witness the creations.
International Mosaïculture is a triennial event that has previously taken place twice in Montreal and once in Shanghai. The giant creations have ranged from duck sculptures hovering over a real pond to huge spitting cobras. Expect more of the same this year and don't forget your camera!
Event details can change. Please check with the organisers that the event is happening before making travel arrangements.
