Zagreb's annual Urban Festival is an ambitious and exciting multimedia project comprising performances, art installations and urban interventions by performing and visual artists.
The project is based on the modern concept of art as a social component that tries to communicate actively with the urban population, making use of abandoned, out-of use locations in the ex-industrial zone of eastern Zagreb.
The artists are given free access to the urban infrastructure; streets, squares and buildings are all up for grabs. Festival organisers have chosen pieces which specifically address urban issues, performed by international artists who attempt to change the urban landscape and human behaviour patterns within it.
Participants come from as far afield as Argentina, Canada, the USA and the UK, as well as from within Croatia itself. Discussion forums and workshops take place alongside the performances and festival "happenings".
Event details can change. Please check with the organisers that the event is happening before making travel arrangements.
