Every year, Das Helwig Haus plants the Red November Remembrance Field at Glen Aplin. The sea of red Flanders poppies, blue cornflowers and wheat, represents the fields of France before the First World War.
In the cool mountain climate of the Granite Belt these red poppies begin blooming mid-October and continue until the end of November. The scarlet Flanders poppies of the Remembrance Field are part of Glen Aplin's Red November celebration of the region's excellent red wines, strawberries and cherries.
